Document Capture Pro (DCP) is an excellent, feature-packed and free scanning and filing utility that is included with many of the Epson WorkForce Pro Business Inkjet systems. Document Capture Pro lets users setup different scanning functions such as 2-sided, blank page removal, searchable PDF or OCR scanning to Word, PowerPoint or Excel file formats. When the user goes to the WorkForce machine with their document to scan, they simply search on the WorkForce’s touchscreen for their computer and the specific scan functions they have created in Document Capture Pro will appear. The diagram below provides an overview of this function:
Document Capture Pro can be set to scan to specific folders on your computer or to folders on your network as well as SharePoint, FTP, email, Google Drive, SugarSynch, Evernote, OneNote, OneDrive and DropBox Cloud applications.
Document Capture Pro also supports folder-naming by barcode recognition and zonal OCR.
Currently, the following Epson MFP machines provide Document Capture Pro: WF-M5799 monochrome, WF-M5799 monochrome SuperTank, WF-C5790 color and the WF-C5790 color SuperTank. The high capacity business-class WF-C579R, WF-C878R and WF-C879R also include Document Capture Pro.
For full flexibility, choose the SmartLF SGi series 36″ and 44″ scanners, winner of the SGIA 2015 Large Format Scanner of the Year and nominee for Wide Format Imaging’s 2016 Scanner of the Year. Perfect for capturing sharply defined detail on technical drawings and maps, as well as the vibrant, accurate colors needed by graphics…
Affordable high quality large format CCD scanners with optimized color imaging performance. Featuring wide color gamut and 1200dpi optical resolution CCD’s that are ideal for full-color graphics, photographs and maps. Fast reliable performance every time.
Sharp and accurate – with superb color
The SmartLF SGi series 36″ and 44″ scanners are perfect for capturing sharply defined detail on technical drawings and maps as well as the vibrant, accurate colors needed by graphics professionals.
SmartLF SGi series large format scanners have all the advantages of CCD technology’s superior color imaging – the ability to scan a wide gamut (range of colours) and a high dynamic range (ability to see detail in dark and light areas) – combined with 1200 dpi optical resolution, the highest optical resolution available in any CCD wide format scanner in the market today. This makes them perfect for capturing vibrant, accurate colors for graphics professionals as well as sharply defined line detail on technical documents and maps.
SmartLF SGi scanners use the advanced SureDrive paper transport system to maintain accurate document positioning as the document passes through the scanner. Combining this with the ClearView bright white bi-directional LED illumination system ensures that with SG even folded documents scan accurately and as shadow-free as possible.
Images are scanned using 48-bits (color) or 16-bits (monochrome), with the best 24 and 8-bits selected as image data respectively.
All the benefits of CCD – without the downsides
Traditional CCD scanners have superior color imaging but are disadvantaged by their fluorescent lighting systems. By using white LEDs instead of fluorescent tubes, the SmartLF SGi is able to maximize the benefits of CCD while saving time and energy.
NEW SmartWorks Imaging
Optimized all the way through, SmartWorks Imaging is clearer and easier to navigate than SmartWorks Pro. With a faster performance, revised preset control, better printer drivers and a new multi-page thumbnail pop-out feature, SmartWorks Imaging is the perfect productivity partner for SmartLF SCi and SmartLF SGi large format scanners.
LINK Remote Control
Work smarter with LINK. This portable tablet app works with any computer already connected to the scanner and running SmartWorks Imaging to bring effortless control of the scanner to your fingertips. Use LINK to reduce body movement and to improve operator comfort while scanning.
Simplified thick media system
Thick media operation is now full-time on all SGi series scanners. To raise the lid and increase the thickness capability of the scanner raise the lever on the left-hand side of the scanner lid to its maximum position then load the document manually. Lower the lever to grip the media and begin scanning. All media must be loaded panel-side justified with SGi.
No warm up, no waiting
While a fluorescently lit scanner can be used within five minutes of switching on, it should really be left to warm up for about 30 minutes in order for the tubes to reach their optimum light intensity and for the tube temperature to reach equilibrium. If this is not done color match and possible stitch inaccuracies caused by a still cold chassis may result.
ClearView white LED illumination used in SmartLF SGi produces high quality scans just like fluorescent illumination but unlike fluorescent tubes the color temperature from LEDs remains stable from first power-up to final power-down. No more waiting for warm-up to complete, simply turn SGi scanners on and scan!
2GB scan data memory
SmartLF SGi is the first scanner from Colortrac to have 2GB of onboard scan data memory. This ensures smooth progress of the document through the scanner even if the computer experiences sudden sluggishness or the Ethernet network is unexpectedly busy.
Significant power saving
SmartLF SGi uses nearly 30% less power when scanning and 94% less power when idle. The scanner has a programmable timer that switches the unit into power saving (ENERGY STAR®) mode when it is not operated for the defined period.
In addition the ‘instant-on’ LED lighting inside every SG means that you can leave the scanner switched off most of the time and only turn it on when you need to use it.
Light for life
While you would normally expect to replace fluorescent tubes every year or two, LEDs are long life. Unlike fluorescent tubes, which stay on the whole time the scanner is switched on, LEDs only come on during the actual scanning process. They have an estimated working life of 50,000 hours which equates to over six years of constant 24/7 scanning!
Less calibration
Fluorescently lit scanners require more frequent calibration because the tubes age and change characteristics over their life. LEDs maintain consistent output and because of this maintenance is required far less frequently.
No mercury
Unlike fluorescent tubes LEDs do not contain mercury, which makes them more environmentally friendly.
More cameras – more accuracy
The SmartLF SGi has six CCDs across the scan width to minimize geometric distortion, more than any other similarly sized scanner.
Traditional CCD scanners are prone to stitch and accuracy issues caused by sensor misalignment. These are minimized in the SmartLF SGi by housing the six CCDs within a rigid monocoque camera chassis.
High productivity
Fast scanning speed
All models scan monochrome at 13 inches per second (200 dpi). If you need high volume color scanning, choose the express color e model which scans color at 8 inches per second (200 dpi).
Gigabit Ethernet connectivity
The SmartLF SGi large format scanner is networkable – it has a Gigabit Ethernet connection as well as a USB2/USB3 connection. The Gigabit Ethernet port can transmit scan data between the scanner and the PC as fast as the USB3 port network traffic allowing. An Ethernet connection also allows placement of the scanner further from the host PC than when using a USB2 or USB3 connection.
“Scan-it-once” philosophy
SmartWorks Pro software takes ‘scan-it-once’ to its heart.
With other wide format scanners operators often need to perform multiple pre-scans of selected image areas to get scan settings right. With the SmartLF SGi large format scanner and SmartWorks Pro the ‘scan-it-once’ system although present in SmartWorks TOUCH, really goes up a gear. Once the scan data is on-screen thresholding and any image enhancements required on the scan such as sharpening or background clean-up can be made in real time and in very controllable increments.
Scan-it-once technology gives you a huge workflow advantage. You can perform quality assurance and adjustments in-line, “right-first-time”, instead of needing to re-scan quality control failures off-line after batch scanning is completed.
An additional advantage of scan-it-once technology is that it minimizes document movement (and possible wear) through the scanner and document skew caused by repeated back and forth “checking”.
Intelligent Adaptive Thresholding (IAT)
IAT allows operators to create better quality scans of dirty documents very quickly by reacting automatically to a range of different background dirt intensities.
Preserves delicate originals
The SmartLF SGi SureDrive paper transport systemapplies the minimum force necessary for preserving delicate originals, while achieving the required traction and accuracy to ensure images are sharp and shadow free.
Professional-level scan and copying software
SmartWorks Pro is available in two versions and either SmartWorks Pro SCAN or SmartWorks Pro SCAN & COPY must normally be purchased separately to use with this scanner . A trial version of the software operating exactly as the full version but watermarking every scan and copy is shipped with each SG scanner. Every SGi scanner includes SmartWorks TOUCH (see Software) and a basic Twain interface for use inside viewing certain applications designed to support Twain. See website for more details.
Simple scanner control panel interface
The basic but effective scanner control panel has buttons to start and stop any scan or copy as well providing manual control over document movement.
Plug ‘n’ Play USB 2.0 /USB 3.0 and Ethernet interfaces
Simply plug the scanner into your PC and use it. The SGi scanner automatically detects whether the port on the computer is USB3 or USB2 and alters the maximum scan speed so the computer is not overloaded with data. When using Ethernet SmartWorks Pro software is designed to detect any SGi scanner attached to the network automatically and operates using DHCP networking protocol.
Low maintenance
SmartLF SGi requires minimal service and calibration. The utility software included with it provides you with all the maintenance applications you need to keep your large format scanner in prime condition and up-to-date with the latest firmware and drivers. The scan glass is held down by magnets for quick and easy removal or replacement and there is easy access to the SmartLF SGi’s paper feed for cleaning.
Environmentally friendly
SmartLF SGi wide format scanner is RoHS compliant; energy efficient (it has earned the ENERGY STAR®); does not use consumable fluorescent lamps which contain mercury; uses recycle friendly components; and is optimized for quiet operation.
Upgradable
The SmartLF SGi large format scanner is available in three models: m (monochrome), c (color) and e (enhanced color).
If your initial requirement is for a monochrome wide format scanner only, you can buy a monochrome scanner now and upgrade to color if and when you need it. If your initial requirement is for infrequent color scanning, you can buy a color wide format scanner now and upgrade to a faster enhanced color model should your color scanning volume increase.
You can upgrade your scanner quickly and easily, by email. There is no need for you to return the scanner to us or for a service engineer to call.

Epson has been recognised for their commitment to sustainability. To further cement their credentials in this area, the launch of the Epson WorkForce Enterprise AM-Series, with award-winning, patented Piezo Heat-Free inkjet technology at their core, is the most seriously sustainable, feature-rich range of business colour copiers in their history.
The new 40-60ppm multi-function devices bring Epson’s most successful static line-head technology to the mass market enhancing the company’s offering and ensuring end users have the best product fit while still addressing and staying true to the company’s sustainability agenda.
Inkjet technology uses one quarter of the energy compared to laser and with a compact footprint and a lightweight design, these products help limit resources used during production and shipping. The energy metrics was determined from comparing Epson WorkForce Enterprise AM-C4000 with 34 competitive laser devices (35 to 45ppm A3 colour MFD segment) as at 14 March 2023 according to data from Keypoint Intelligence.
This reduced size also means they easily integrate into any office and save on space. High yield ink cartridges also reduce material usage, office disruptions, shipping, storage and end-user management of consumables.
The new WorkForce Enterprise AM-Series represents a significant shift in Epson’s printing strategy, fully supporting the company’s commitment to sustainability and coincides with Epson’s recent announcement of its ¥100 billion (AUD$1 billion) investment into sustainable innovation.
The launch of these products accentuates laser technology’s limited ability to make significant steps towards improved sustainability due to its ongoing requirement for heat during the print process and relative increased energy use.
This combined with fewer moving and consumable parts to replace over the lifetime of the printer compared to lasers, also means service and maintenance needs of Epson inkjets are substantially reduced, along with resulting printer downtime improving productivity and user satisfaction.
The new WorkForce Enterprise AM-Series now completes Epson’s business inkjet line up from small workgroup units to high-speed production machines – meaning that no matter the business function or print demand, there is a product that suits.
With a full range of support from Managed Print Service and Print Admin packages through to Remote Service solutions, these products truly enable a low maintenance, high quality, reliable, sustainable print system.

If you are loking to buy a new projector for a classroom, meeting room or home theater, the image you project on the screen should make a great impression on your audience. Researching projectors can be confusing, with many acronyms and technological terms. Our projector guide will help answer common questions regarding terminology, features and other important considerations when you are choosing a projector.
Contrast Ratio
Contrast ratio is the difference between light and dark on a screen, expressed by a number. If you take the brightest white on a screen and the darkest black and compare the luminosity, you get the contrast ratio. For example, a 1000:1 contrast ratio means that the brightest white is 1000x brighter than the darkest black. LEARN MORE
Resolution
Resolution is the number of dots or pixels used to display an image. Higher resolutions mean that more pixels are used to create the image, resulting in a crisper, cleaner image. High resolution is important for projecting detailed charts and graphs, text, and high-definition video. The resolution is indicated by a number combination such as 1920 x 1200. This indicates that there are 1920 dots horizontally across the display by 1200 lines of dots vertically, equaling 2,304,000 total dots that make up the image seen on the screen. LEARN MORE

Epson WorkForceEnterprise Inkjet Technology Replaces Laser for Direct Mail High-Volume Print Jobs
“With the Epson printer we focus on volume. We’ve printed over 160,000 pieces since we’ve brought it in,” said J.B Simpson, account manager, American Marketing Counsel (AMC). AMC is a family-owned management consulting business for nearly 40 years. With a primary focus on the healthcare industry, the company ensures its clients are able toleverage high quality, full color direct mail pieces to reach medical professionals as candidates for employment in various positions. Because print quality, performance and reliability are the most important production features in direct mail services, AMC continually investigates other print technologies to ensure the company is always leveraging state-of-the-art equipment. After extensive research, Epson’s WorkForceEnterprise WFC21000 stole the show with its impressive 100 ISO ppm1and image quality with its PrecisionCoreHeat-Free technology.
Printer Works with You, Not Against You
More often than not, the printing solutions Simpson previously relied on caused numerous issues that interfered with the quality of the prints and prolonged the process to get the job done. After using the WF-C21000, Simpson immediately identified it as AMC’s “go-to” solution for volume printing. “In the past, when I used laser printers for volume printing, the paper runs hot.” said Simpson. “Epson’s inkjet printer technology is amazing because prints stay cool which is a huge plus to an operator dealing with volume.” Another major selling point for the Epson printers is its DURABrite® inks. DURABriteinstant-dry inks are truly touchable right out of the printer and are ideal for everyday text and image documents. “Never in the 160,000 pieces that we’ve printed with the Epson WF-C21000 have we encountered smearing issues. The black is actually blacker when printing on the Epson compared to our old printer. It blows my mind how fast it is. I love that with the Epson the ink is instantly dry because once I put the prints in the box, I’m confident there will be no smudging.” “I like not having to take everything apart. With our old printers, if smearing began or there was an issue, we would have to begin the process of troubleshooting. This can include checking the drums, toner, transfer roller, etc., which can be such a pain and can lead to making a huge mess which is troublesome when you’re printing on white paper,” said Simpson. “The Epson takes care of a lot of issues I’ve had previously with printers. It’s one of the few printers I’ve worked with that feels like it’s working with you and not against you.”-J.B SIMPSON, ACCOUNT MANAGER, AMERICAN MARKETING COUNSEL “The Epson takes care of a lot of issues I’ve had previously with printers. It’s one of the few printers I’ve worked with that feels like it’s working with you and not against you.”
No Supervision Required
When Simpson was using laser printers, they frequently experienced paper jams in the middle of a job. Paper jams require the operator to spend more time hands on, double checking the prints for duplicates or missing pages. Incorporating the WorkForce Enterprise WF-C21000 has helped Simpson streamline the printing process. “The number of times I’ve experienced a jam with Epson’s printer is minimal, I can count it on one hand. Even then, it was extremely easy to fix as the printer communicates with you to resolve an issue and the printer resumes right where it left off, helping us avoid mistakes.” In addition, the WF-C21000 has provided AMC with peace of mind when printing large volumes. “When running jobs on the Epson printer, I could walk away, and have it run the whole order without my assistance. I find this crazy because I’m used to sitting next to the printer and supervising the unit to make sure nothing goes wrong. This is a printer that doesn’t require supervision, which is nice when you need a cup of coffee or trip to the company library.”
Increased Productivity at Lower Cost
AMC has taken advantage of everything the WF-C21000 offers to help increase their productivity. “We enjoy the stacker the Epson printer comes with. I love that we don’t have to jog the prints ourselves, it pumps it out so quick. Having the jogger built in cuts down a big chunk of time and everything we’re uncomfortable with when working with high volume prints.” “The stapler is a plus, especially for those who are using this in an office environment. It staples in the blink of an eye. I appreciated that the unit came with staples already inside, and so far, we have not had to refill it.” The Epson also proved to be efficient in speed. “The Epson printer runs twice as fast as our previous printers. It in fact delivers 100 ISO ppm1, which is crucial when working with a large order. Prior to bringing the Epson in, we used laser printers that offered only 50-60 ppm, which isn’t nearly as fast as the Epson.” Epson’s WF-C21000 has exceeded AMC’s expectations for their scope of work. “The Epson serves its purpose and I think it can work for anyone printing high-volume. It’s been my favorite printer that I’ve worked with since I have been at AMC and easiest on the operator.”
“The WF-C21000 is everything it’s advertised to be. It’s so good we bought a second one. What else can I say?” concludes Simpson. “The WF-C21000 is everything it’s advertised to be…It blows my mind how fast it is…prints stay cool…the ink is instantly dry…it [can] run the whole order without my assistance…It’s so good we bought a second one.”-J.B SIMPSON, AMERICAN MARKETING COUNSEL

Epson Brings Industry-Disruptive PrecisionCore Technology to Office Printing with New Compact WorkForce Enterprise AM Series. WorkForce Enterprise AM-C6000, AM-C5000 and AM-C4000 Deliver High Reliability for Mid-Range MFP Market
LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – March 1, 2023 – Epson America, Inc. today announced the availability of three new A3 line head multifunction printers as part of its WorkForce Enterprise portfolio. Powered by PrecisionCore® advanced printing technology, the WorkForce® Enterprise AM-C6000, AM-C5000 and AM-C4000 business printing solutions deliver outstanding quality with low waste. Engineered for reliable performance, the AM Series was designed for large workgroups and departments, and competitively offers energy-efficient features in a space-saving form factor.
The WorkForce Enterprise AM Series MFPs have the lowest power consumption in their classes1 – up to 65% lower for the AM-C6000, up to 55% lower for the AM-C5000 and up to 45% lower for the AM-C4000 versus color laser printers – to help businesses meet sustainability goals. Convenient for space-constrained environments, they use the least amount of floor space in each of their classes2 and support an optional inner finishing accessory without adding to the footprint of the main unit.
“Epson continues to demonstrate its commitment for taking PrecisionCore inkjet technology into the broader office printing market,” says Robert Palmer, research vice president with IDC’s Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions group. “With its latest WorkForce Enterprise AM Series MFPs, Epson has expanded into new market segments, with the promise of more to come.”
The breakthrough WorkForce Enterprise AM Series offers a variety of high-performance features to keep businesses moving. Offering fast print speeds – 60 ISO ppm† (black/color) for the AM-C6000, 50 ISO ppm† (black/color) for the AM-C5000 and 40 ISO ppm† (black/color) for the AM-C4000 – and a fast first page out, these feature-packed solutions deliver revolutionary productivity for a variety of work environments.
“Expanding the WorkForce Enterprise PrecisionCore line head portfolio reinforces Epson’s promise to delivering solutions that meet the printing needs for a range of businesses,” said Mark Mathews, vice president of commercial sales and marketing, Epson America. “The AM Series complements our existing models, expanding our award-winning technology to address the mid-range MFP market, and opens the door to new partner opportunities.”
Additional WorkForce Enterprise AM Series Features Include:
Large touchscreen operation — intuitive, user-friendly 10.1″ color touchscreen with customizable interface
Robust security — full suite of advanced security features
Versatile options — the ideal solution for stacking, stapling, creating booklets and hole-punching; fax and multi-network options
Efficient workflow — single-pass duplex scanning
Compatible with Epson Solutions Suite and industry-leading third-party solutions — Epson Open Platform for seamless workflow integration
Remarkable image quality — DURABrite® Pro fast-drying, water-resistant pigment ink delivers vivid color and crisp black text
The WorkForce Enterprise AM-C6000 will replace the WorkForce Enterprise WF-C20600, and the full AM Series will join the rest of the WorkForce Enterprise portfolio, providing dealers with a complete suite of MFP offerings with print speeds up to 100 ISO ppm†. Additionally, a new professional compact staple finisher accessory will be available for the WorkForce Enterprise WF-C20750, WF-C21000 and WF-M21000.
