The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-C879R is based on Epson’s excellent PrecisionCore ink technology, using very little power and also requiring fewer consumable parts than laser-toner-fuser-drum-based systems. That means less user intervention, fewer service calls, and, most importantly, lower cost per print. The printhead doesn’t touch the paper and no heat is applied so a wide range of papers are supported including high gloss and luster for photographic or high-resolution output. It also prints very sharp text and graphics on standard copier papers and the ink is dry and doesn’t smear. Up to 13 x 19 is also supported for signage or large photographs. The C879R is also excellent at printing on envelopes since it doesn’t touch the envelope and it doesn’t crease or wrinkle with a straight paper path, something that toner-based machines struggle to achieve. The C879R includes Document Capture Pro at no extra cost that provides very advanced scanning capabilities. Scanning can be set up so you can stack a mixture of single- and double-sided sheets in the document feeder and automatically remove the blank pages from the resulting PDF. Users can also create searchable PDF files, or scan in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file formats. Fax capability is also included with the C879R at no extra charge. Great machine!
